Throughout our lifetime we are challenged to learn and to grow.
However, sometimes we tend to grow faster than we learn. ((hmmm something to think about))
Ever hear of the saying I wish I knew then what I know now?
I have to share something I read that made some sense on growing and learning from Philip Johansen, “Cheat Codes I know at 42 I wish I knew at 22.”
- Use workouts to gain muscle, diet to burn fat and cardio to improve your overall health and longevity.
- Eat a high protein diet composed of whole foods for the best body composition.
- When lifting weights use your mind for muscle connection to increase muscle
contraction. - Upon waking, drink water before coffee.
- Delay your coffee 1-2 hours upon waking. This will let your cortisol clear our adenosine (a chemical compound) which can lead to sustained energy in the afternoon.
- Use your nose for smelling and breathing. Use your mouth for talking, tasting and eating.
- Mouth breathing disrupts sleep, ruins oral health and can cause sleep apnea. Mouth taping is recommended to help solve the problem.
- Mouthwash is the biggest dental scam. It kills your oral microbiota.
(The oral microbiota represents an important part of the human microbiota, and includes several hundred to several thousand diverse species. It is a normal part of the oral cavity and has an important function to protect against colonization of extrinsic bacteria which could affect systemic health.) AVOID! - Avoid fluoride in your toothpaste. Use ones that have hydroxyapatite.(is a naturally occurring mineral form of calcium apatite)
- Sleep at the same time every day. Align your body with the rising and the setting of the sun.
- The 321 method for better sleep. Means NO eating 3 hours before bed. NO liquids 2 hours before. NO screens 1 hour before.
- If you do look at screens at night wear blue lights blockers (glasses)
- You sleep for ⅓ of your life (entire) life. Learn to optimize it and make it AWESOME!
- Memory is fallible (fail). When you have a good idea make sure you write it down immediately.
- Your best ideas come in the shower, walking or in the gym. Keep a notepad ready.
- Peel a boiled egg by rolling it around on your plate until all the shells are cracked. This makes it easier to remove the shell in one shot.
- Close the toilet bowl when flushing to avoid all particles of filth up in your bathroom atmosphere.
- The more you criticize others the more you will criticize yourself. If you want to judge yourself less judge others.
- Stay away from people who always complain, they are energy vampires.
- Stay away from people who gossip. They are most likely gossiping about you.
- Learn a martial art to increase your discipline and confidence and ease your stress.
These were so interesting to dissect from another’s mindset. It made me think more into life and what I have learned throughout my years and what I may have wished I knew when I was younger.
- Don’t give a S*%@ on what others think of you, jealousy will make you feel as if nothing you have is good enough. It would be best to overcome this feeling by practicing self-compassion and expressing gratitude for every little thing you have.
- Love yourself and your mistakes. Mistakes are life lessons. Every mistake you make is a valuable lesson gained.
- RESPECT your body.
- Have faith, faith can be driven “Faith is the art of holding on to things your reason has once accepted in spite of your changing moods.” CS Lewis
Try making your own list, what do you wish you knew in your younger years.
Would it have helped or hindered you?
As I always state, stay true to you.
