Surrounded by Purpose
Many of the people I know seem to have a deep sense of purpose.
Well that’s what it appears on social media.
I see many appearing to have it all together.
Their job, the family pictures, the perfect shaped life.
They went to college, they travel, they seem so happy.
But is that the truth or does the truth just fall behind the screen?
I’d like to share some insight and knowledge of my own experiences to shed a small light on how you can gain your own purpose and gain happiness in your meaning of life.
Maybe you’re going through life unfulfilled, unfocused, searching for meaning, but nothing fills the void.
What’s missing? What’s the point of it all?
You get up then you fall again, you don’t know what you’re doing wrong and why others seem to be so happy, maybe you feel like you’re looking through lenses.
Purpose is all about applying your skills toward contributing to the greater good in a way that matters to you.
Identifying what you care about is an important first step.
So, write it down, what do you love to do?
Know your values
Write down 3 ways you value yourself.
Don’t dwell on your past decisions or mistakes, name 2 things that helped you get through the hardest times in your life?
Consider what type of skills, talents, and passions you bring to the table.
Then, brainstorm how you might turn your passion into something meaningful to you.
Life is a purpose, breathing is a purpose, you waking up is a purpose
With all the distractions in life today it’s so hard to find yourself, you are shown everyone’s life on social media every day.
That shapes our mind, repeatedly makes us compare ourselves to others’ life, we start bringing our own purpose and life down.
I know the reality of life is to find a good job that pays the bills, makes you live comfortably.
But what if that job is making you feel dragged down, tired, disconnected with life?
What if that job is not your purpose, is not what makes you happy, what if it’s just fulfilling the void?
When we allow ourselves to look at our interests, we’re able to see the real dream that may be in our blind spot, maybe it was never accepted by someone important in your life.
Maybe that dream job wouldn’t pay enough money.
It boils down to your self confidence level and what you are distinguishing on your purpose.
Keep in mind your purpose doesn’t necessarily mean you have to change what you’re doing already.
You don’t always have to stop a job to gain a purpose in life
A few examples, a hairdresser who likes to cut and color hair could have a genuine passion for making people feel beautiful and may want to volunteer at a women’s shelter or help individuals going through hard times losing their hair, maybe expand and do makeup.
Expanding your horizon through an already open door is a step in the right direction.
You also might find that your purpose changes over time, don’t rush we all find different passions throughout life.
Consider your legacy, Our goals are personal, and we must decide whether to follow them or let them drift out of sight.
