Most of us believe that what we put in our bodies will be the outcome on how our bodies will adapt to disease, our environment and daily living.
Maintaining a healthy diet every day isn’t as easy as it sounds.
With life going a million miles a second fast-food can be a quick and easy way to fuel your body in a timely manner.
On the-Go popular fast-food chains are popping up all across America. Not just in lower class neighborhoods but in neighborhoods with wealth and increased population.
The theory behind this I believe is propaganda, and that is MONEY.
We need to have conscious mind behavior on what we are putting into our bodies
With time management I know it can be overwhelming and costly.
Healthy food doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. In all actuality, meat and dairy cost more money than fruit and vegetables.
Here is a list of some healthy living tips:
- Choose good carbs, not no carbs. Whole grains are your best bet.
- Pay attention to the protein package. Fish, poultry, nuts, and beans
are the best choices. - Choose foods with healthy fats, limit foods high in saturated fat, and
avoid foods with trans fat. Plant oils, nuts, and fish are the healthiest
sources. - Choose a fiber-filled diet, rich in whole grains, vegetables, and fruits.
- Eat more vegetables and fruits. Go for color and variety—dark
green, yellow, orange, and red. - Calcium is important. But milk isn’t the only, or even best, source.
So what does this have to do with our mental health?
Our mental health is fueled not only by genetics but by our diet and environment.
With fueling our brain with the power of more plants and less sugar you can reverse the effects and get your memory back to its former glory.
Even better with a good diet, your memory can get better and better through time.
There are certain foods which are good for the brain, like the omega-3 fatty acids, found in fish and supplements.
This is powerful in the study of anxiety, PTSD, Alzheimer’s/Dementia and many others.
So, what is step 1?
Step 1 is to quick start your brain and let her know you’re ready to start fueling the engine.
Start by eliminating all GMO and junk such as chips and processed foods.
Smoothies are a great way to introduce veggies.
You can disguise the taste that you wouldn’t even know you were drinking a cup of spinach…
Here is my favorite smoothie/juice recipe:
The green machine
1 cup of spinach
1 Banana
½ cup of almond/or oat Milk
tsp. of peanut butter/sun butter or almond butter
ice cubes and blend
Top off with some cinnamon or chocolate shaves for a delicious power trip!
You can substitute with avocado, plain yogurt, kale and so much more.
Remember, what we feed our mind is important as it helps with not just our bodies staying healthy but our mind and mental health too!
