Money is not the root of happiness, matter of fact it can rain havoc on your happiness and control your life if you don’t use it wisely.
What’s the connection between money and happiness?
Things that bring you happiness can be said to have intrinsic value.
This means they’re valuable to you but don’t necessarily represent a standard value for happiness to others.
Money, on the other hand, has extrinsic value.
This means that others recognize money has real-world value, too, and will (generally) accept it.
For example, you may find pleasure in the smell of lavender, but someone else might find it less appealing.
Each of you assigns a different intrinsic value to the scent of lavender.
You can’t literally buy happiness at a store.
But when money is used in certain ways, such as purchasing things that bring you happiness, you can use it to add intrinsic value to your life.
How does money control your mood?
You lie, cheat or steal to get money; even a little lying or cheating shows money is controlling you.
You take unnecessary financial risks.
You use credit to buy things that decrease in value, such as expensive cars or expensive clothing.
Money controls your mood and you feel good or bad based on your finances.
Can money actually buy you happiness?
Scientists say, Yes!
Money actually buys happiness, but it depends how you use it.
It’s one of those questions that has been pondered for years:
Can money buy happiness?
The life satisfaction and joy that comes from money are dependent on many factors.
- You can buy things for other people
- Donate money to charity
- Spend it on smaller pleasures rather than big-ticket items
- Use money to buy time
- Investments
- Support your local community
Mood
Money problems can affect your mental health and your mind
- Certain situations might trigger feelings of anxiety and panic, like opening envelopes
- Worrying about money can lead to sleep problems
- You might not be able to afford the things you need to stay well. This might be housing, food, water, heating, or treatments like medication and therapy.
- Money problems can affect your social life and relationships. You might feel lonely or isolated, or like you can’t afford to do the things you want to If money is affecting your life, bringing down your marriage and your feelings are defined by how much money you have in the bank then change the way you look at the value.
Value yourself before you place the value over money.
